Synology NAS Solutions for Business

A network-attached storage (NAS) system gives your business secure, central storage for files, backups and camera footage, without per-user subscription fees. As an official Synology partner, SimplifiedPC designs, installs and supports Synology NAS systems for offices, medical practices and multi-location businesses across Orange County.

Why businesses choose Synology, and why they choose us to set it up

Synology NAS systems combine file sharing, backup, remote access and video surveillance in one device, with most features included rather than licensed separately. They scale from a small office with a few users to multi-site deployments, and storage can be expanded as you grow.

The hardware is only part of the picture. The value comes from setting it up correctly: the right drive configuration, permissions, encryption, backups and monitoring. As an official Synology partner, that's what we do every day.

Synology network-attached storage systems for business

What we set up on Synology

Central file storage & sharing

Shared folders with permissions by team or role, replacing aging file servers or scattered local files.

Multi-office file sync

Files shared securely between branch offices and remote staff, with one set of data everyone can trust.

Centralized backup

Backups of computers, servers and virtual machines to the NAS, with a copy sent off-site or to the cloud.

Encryption & access security

AES-256 encrypted shared folders, multi-factor authentication for sign-in, and protection against ransomware.

Video surveillance

Recording and managing security cameras on the NAS, with remote viewing from phones and computers.

Virtualization storage

Shared storage for Hyper-V and VMware environments and backup targets for virtual machines.

Synology for healthcare practices

Medical, dental and optometry offices need to protect patient data while keeping it accessible to staff. Synology's encryption, access controls, multi-factor authentication and backup tools can support HIPAA technical safeguards when they're configured correctly. We set up encrypted storage, restricted access, audit logging and reliable backups so patient records are protected from theft, loss and ransomware.

“We are in the property management business with multiple offices, and SPC did a great job installing a centralized network area storage to store and securely share data to our remote offices.”

Synology NAS FAQ

Is a NAS a backup?

A NAS can store your backups, but data that only lives on the NAS isn't backed up. We always configure a second copy, off-site or in the cloud, and use snapshots to protect against ransomware and accidental deletion.

NAS or cloud storage like OneDrive?

It depends on your files and software. Large files, camera footage, line-of-business databases and backups often work better on a NAS. Many businesses use both, with the NAS for local storage and backup and Microsoft 365 for collaboration.

Can staff access files remotely?

Yes. We set up secure remote access with multi-factor authentication, or through a VPN, depending on your security requirements.

What happens when a drive fails?

With RAID configured, the NAS keeps running on the remaining drives. Monitoring alerts us so the failed drive can be replaced before a second failure puts data at risk.
