IT Support for Dental Offices

A dental office can't see patients when the front desk can't open the schedule or an operatory can't pull up X-rays. SimplifiedPC keeps Orange County dental practices running, from the computers in every operatory to the network, backups and security behind them, and we deal with your dental software vendors so your team doesn't have to.

Why dental offices need specialized IT

Dental practices depend on a tight chain of technology: practice management software at the front desk, imaging sensors and cameras in each operatory, a server or cloud system holding patient charts and X-rays, and a network fast enough to move large image files between them. When one link fails, chairs sit empty.

Dental offices also hold sensitive patient information, which makes them a common target for ransomware. We build practical, HIPAA-focused protection that keeps patient data safe without slowing down your clinical team.

Dental IT services

Front desk & operatory computers

Workstations set up and maintained for the front desk, operatories and doctors' offices, so the schedule, charts and X-rays open quickly everywhere.

Networks built for imaging

Fast, reliable wired networks and cabling so digital X-rays and intraoral images move between rooms without delays.

Servers & storage

The server or NAS storage that holds your practice database and images, sized for years of growing imaging files.

Backup & recovery

Encrypted backups of your practice database and imaging, with off-site copies and tested restores. See backup & disaster recovery.

HIPAA-focused security

Firewalls, endpoint and ransomware protection, individual logins, encryption and 24/7 Kaseya monitoring. See healthcare IT support.

We deal with your vendors

Dental software and imaging vendors can be hard to deal with. For managed clients, or hourly, we handle their support calls for you and explain the results in plain English.

Technology dental offices commonly use

We set up and maintain the computers, networks and backups that dental systems like these run on:

Practice management software

  • Dentrix
  • Eaglesoft
  • Open Dental
  • Cloud-based systems such as Curve Dental and Denticon

Imaging equipment

  • Digital X-ray sensors
  • Panoramic and CBCT systems
  • Intraoral cameras
  • Imaging software and viewing stations

Front office

  • Scheduling and patient communication tools
  • Card readers and insurance workflows
  • Printers, scanners and signature pads
  • VoIP phones

How software support works: your software and imaging vendors remain your official support providers. For managed IT clients, or on an hourly basis, we work with their support teams on your behalf, so your staff don't have to sit on hold or decode technical instructions.

What dental clients say

“We have been receiving IT support for our dental office from Kenny at Simplified PC for over 5 years. In this time we have always experienced quick, efficient, and honest IT service. Our office is very dependant on our digital xrays, phones, and scheduling system so we are very thankful to have such a great support system to get us up and running anytime we have an issue. They have helped with many software and hardware upgrades, always recommending a fair, conservative, and affordable option that fits our needs. They have also been great about working around our work schedule and scheduling for maintenance when we are closed or on holidays. They handle all our backups of very important patient records and we completely trust their expert recommendations.”

Carly Barrett, dental office

“SimplifiedPC installed a new network for us… SimplifiedPC assessed our situation and made appropriate (excellent) recommendations. They provided us with several options at various price points… SimplifiedPC currently manages our network remotely. We feel confident and secure. I recommend SimplifiedPC highly and without any reservations.”

Opening or moving a dental office?

New practices and relocations are the best time to get the technology right. We plan network cabling to every operatory, set up the server or cloud system, workstations, printers and phones, coordinate with your practice management and imaging vendors, and configure backups before your first patient.

  • Network drops planned for each operatory
  • Imaging workstations and sensors connected
  • Server or cloud practice software set up
  • Secure Wi-Fi for staff and a separate guest network
  • Backups configured from day one
  • Everything documented for your team

Dental IT FAQ

Do you support Dentrix, Eaglesoft or Open Dental?

We maintain the computers, servers, network and backups your practice software runs on. The software company remains your official support provider, but for managed clients, or billed hourly, we'll call them for you, work through the problem with their support team, and explain the outcome in plain English.

Why are our X-rays slow to open in the operatories?

Slow imaging is usually caused by the network, an overloaded server, or aging workstations. We test each link in the chain, find the bottleneck and fix it, whether that's new cabling, a faster switch or a server upgrade.

How do we protect our practice from ransomware?

Layered protection: managed endpoint protection, a business firewall, multi-factor authentication, regular updates and, most importantly, backups kept isolated from your network so you can recover. See our IT security page.

We're a small, single-doctor office. Is this affordable?

Yes. We offer hourly support and monthly managed plans sized for small practices, and we recommend only what your office actually needs.

Keep your chairs full and your systems running

Tell us about your practice software, imaging and what's slowing your team down. We'll recommend how to make it faster and more secure.
